This is my favorite part of the course because fungi are beginning to show us just how connected the plant kingdom is to ours.

• Listen and discussing as a class and in small groups Radical Mycology by Peter McCoy
Day 8 Fungi
• Oysters Are EASY – Participants will be able to cultivate oyster mushrooms indoors or outdoors, possibly on spent coffee grinds and waste cardboard
• Shiitake Logs – Participants will be able to cultivate shiitake mushrooms on logs (ideally oak) in groups
• Jar It Up – Participants will be able to cultivate mycelium in liquid inoculation jars with airport lids
• King Stropharia Mushroom Bed Participants will be able to cultivate King Stropharia mushrooms in a garden-style bed or raised garden
• Dried Mycelium – Participants will be able to strain and dry liquid culture mycelium
• Mycoremediation – Participants will be able to use King Stropharia and Oyster inoculated straw and wood chips to filter water, testing the water going in and coming out, measuring to see how much
of the contamination was removed.
Class assignment:
Find a mushroom outside and create a spore print, Take a photo and post the results in the forum.
