Permaculture can be described as the combination of two words – Permanent agriculture and Permanent culture.
Permanent agriculture: includes gardens, agriculture, agroforestry, animal management, aquaculture, provides income, provides produce, and is sustainable now and in the future.
Permanent culture: strong resilient culture and environment working with nature and people, not against or in competition
One thing a lot of people misunderstand is that permaculture is not a gardening technique that is exclusive of permaculture. It is a framework for wrapping any technique into a viable system based on your zone or individual environment. Techniques that work in the Northeast of the United States will not work in the tropical areas of Vietnam, where I live.
At Pan Gaia Permaculture we have created a PDC (Permaculture Design Certification) course that reflects the above.
Join us on April 2, 2022 for an interactive, online Permaculture Design Certification course (PDC).
